Heather Botsford was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and grew up in the area. She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English from Southeastern Louisiana University where she teaches first-year composition and world literature. In 2015, Heather began practicing Kenpo Karate and Jiu Jitsu at Covington Karate Studio with her son Ian; today she holds a black belt in Kenpo Karate, a combatives belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu, and a pink belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Heather teaches WOMAN’S SELF DEFENSE, a self-defense system developed just for women on Tuesdays and Saturdays at Covington Karate Studio. MS. HEATHER ALSO ENJOYS WORKING AS AN INSTRUCTOR IN THE KIDS KARATE PROGRAM AS SWAT TEAM MEMBER WITH THE STUDIO. SHE EXCELS AT PATIENTLY DEVELOPING HER STUDENTS INTO SUCCESSFUL MARTIAL ARTISTS.
